Animals: Don't pay, rescue!

I refuse to pay for an animal.
I don’t understand how some people pay (and sometimes pay a lot) to have a breed animal, cat or dog, when there are so many abandoned animals out there.
Of course I have a favourite breed of dogs (not cats though), and of course that if I was going to have a dog I would prefer that one, BUT, I couldn't, in all conscience, pay some hundred dollars to buy a dog, when there are so many abandoned and, if no one adopts them, condemned to die.
Anyway I have a rescue cat (that’s her in the photo above), which I adopted as a baby, and she is the most amazing animal I've ever had. Wouldn't trade her for the most expensive cat in the world, if I had the chance :)
